When families enroll their children in our Child Care & Learning Center, they are expecting that we have people in leadership who are educated, qualified and have experience.  We wanted to share some more information about our new administration to communicate who will be overseeing your child's care.

Hi, my name is Zak Caldwell and beginning summer of 2017, I will be serving as the Director of Ministry and Administration for Olympic View Friends Child Care & Learning Center.

I graduated from Barclay College in 2006 with a degree in Business Administration & Biblical Studies.

From 2007-2013, I worked as an Assistant Director for Quaker Ridge Camp and Conference Center in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. At Quaker Ridge, I was responsible for the contracts, finances, and supervision of 25 staff.  I also assisted with programming, managed the weekly camps and scheduling.

In 2013, my family (my wife Katrina and three children now ages 6, 8 and 13) relocated to Central Oregon where I was hired as the Executive Director of Central Oregon Youth For Christ.  Here, I have been working with teens and overseeing the overall ministry in three different cities (staff, finances, accounting, fundraising, etc).

As the Olympic View Friends Director of Ministry & Administration, I will primarily be focused on the day to day management of our business (accounting, billing, payroll & policies) and staff (hiring & supervision).

I am looking forward to meeting the families we serve and in providing overall leadership and guidance to make Olympic View Friends Child Care & Learning Center one of the best child care providers in the NE Tacoma area.

Hello, my name is Jessica James. I am now serving as the Interim Director at Olympic View Friends Child Care & Learning Center. Starting in the Summer of 2017, I will be the Director of Education & Programming to help train, educate and support our classroom staff.

I have a Masters in Business, a Bachelors in Health Care Administration and I received an Early Childhood Certificate from Clover Park Technical College. I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge from both the state, corporate and private sectors of education.

I began my career in Early Childhood Development in 1998 working in the school-age programs from 1998- 2000, then became a Dyslexia tutor from 2000-2002. I then moved (with my military spouse and now 6 children & two grandchildren) to Washington; where I took the time to go to college. In 2007, I become a Floor Supervisor from a privately owned daycare center. In 2009, I branched out to Hayes Child Development Center with various positions from 2009-2011.

From 2011-2015 I served as the Marketing Supervisor, then Assistant Director and finally as the main Director of Mini Skool Early Learning Center in Olympia WA.

I joined Olympic View Friends Child Care & Learning Center in June of 2015 as Assistant Director to serve the families and the community.

Greetings!  My name is Jenny Willoughby and I am temporarily serving as the Transition & Accountability Liaison for Olympic View Friends Child Care until Fall 2017.

I graduated from Barclay College in 2006 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Biblical Studies.  My husband and I moved to Central Oregon in late 2006.  There, I was employed as a Teacher's Assistant in the local elementary school working primarily with special needs children.

My family moved to NE Tacoma in 2014 when my husband (Rob) was hired as pastor for Olympic View Friends.  Since moving here, I have grown a passion for being involved in our Child Care & Learning Center, mainly serving as a volunteer & substitute teacher when needed.

I have a heart for children, specifically early childhood.  We have two children, Judah (age 5) and Bethel (age 4) who love being involved in our Child Care & Learning Center.

I look forward to building relationships with our local NE Tacoma families and watching our little ones grow up and mature into school age children & beyond.

When Olympic View Friends Church was founded in 1969, the church community had a child care mission & vision. Unlike many other churches, OVFC believed one of the main ways we could use our facility to best serve our local NE Tacoma area was by committing the majority of our building to a child care ministry.  This means that we had to choose what was most important to us as a church, and we chose children.  Olympic View Friends Child Care & Learning Center is not a for profit business to financially benefit the church.  In fact, the Child Care & Church finances are completely separate.  This allows extra proceeds raised to be reinvested into our child care programming, while at the same time keeping tuition costs down for families as much as possible.

It is the responsibility of the Olympic View Friends Elders (who serve as our volunteer church leadership) to oversee and ensure our child care is not only following Washington's minimum child care licensing requirements, but that we are following our own policies that raises the level & quality of care above and beyond what is required by the state.  The OVFC Elders supervise all of the policies and procedures as well as the leadership for both the Church and our Child Care & Learning Center.   Many of the OVFC Elders have (or have had) their own children enrolled in our Center. Because of this, the OVFC Elders take oversight of our Child Care & Learning Center very seriously. Our hope is that you can trust them to make sure the care offered to our enrolled families is the absolute best it can be.
